This policy explains what personal data Travla collects, why, who else on the platform can see it, and how long it is kept. It applies to customers, and to staff at properties, agencies, creators, and service providers using Travla.
Account details (name, email, phone), booking details (lead guest name, travel dates, guest count, special requests), payment confirmation from Paystack or Stripe (never your card details, which Travla never stores), and messages sent through Travla's in-app messaging. For partners: business details, bank account information for payouts, and listing content.
Travla uses a staged disclosure model: a property or agency sees only your first name and booking reference until shortly before check-in, when your full lead guest name becomes visible for room preparation, and reverts to the booking-time minimum once your trip is marked completed. A service provider attached to your package follows the same schedule and never sees your exact contact details, only a masked in-app messaging channel. Creators never see your identity at all, even when a booking is attributed to their referral link. You can see exactly what each party can see, and when, on your trip's own transparency screen at any time.
Messages between you and a property, agency, or service provider stay inside Travla and are never handed to either party as a phone number or email address. Messages are scanned for attempts to exchange outside contact details, which are flagged for the Travla team to review, but never blocked or read as a matter of course.
Payments are processed by Paystack or Stripe. Travla receives confirmation that a payment succeeded and the amount, never your full card number, expiry, or CVV. Refunds are issued back through the same gateway to your original payment method.
Booking and payment records are kept for as long as required to resolve disputes, chargebacks, and tax obligations, even after a deletion request, for the reasons explained below. Messages are retained for the lifetime of the booking they relate to.
You can request a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion, from your trip's transparency screen at any time. A real person reviews every request, rather than an automated eraser, because a booking or payment record can carry fraud, dispute, and tax-audit retention obligations that a deletion request on its own cannot override. You will hear back once your request has been reviewed.
Travla shares data with Paystack and Stripe to process payments, and with the specific property, agency, or service provider attached to your own booking, per the staged disclosure model above. Travla does not sell your data to third parties.
Travla may update this policy as the platform evolves. Continuing to use Travla after an update means you accept the revised policy.
